Star Transmission – Romanian Daimler subsidiary expands production

International brands are backed by international production networks. This is also the case with the Mercedes-Benz Cars Powertrain production network: it implements the Mercedes-Benz 2020 growth strategy of consistently consumer- and market-oriented production and consists of several locations in Germany, the U.S.A., China and Romania.

In Sebes, a town of 20,000 inhabitants in the heart of Romania, the Daimler Chrysler subsidiary Star Transmission SRL has been producing components for engines, transmissions and steering systems since 2012. Since 2018, it has also been assemblingthe 7G-DCT dual-clutch transmissions, thus economically and flexibly supplementing the production of of these components, which has previously been concentrated at the headquarters in Untertürkheim. More than 500 new, qualified jobs were created with the 300 million euro investment. With the support of the Romanian government, young people receive dual training here according to the Baden-Württemberg model, e.g. as electromechanics and pattern casters. Star Transmission currently employs more than 1,200 people.

Valves and ball valves for every requirement

The fact that top quality can be reliably produced in Sebes is also due to highly complex heating, cooling and production plants - equipped with premium products and systems from Oventrop.

Oventrop double regulating and commissioning valves of the HydroControl series are used as regulating valves in the cooling water pipes. Water, gas and other media-carrying pipes can be shut off with Oventrop Optibal brass ball valves. Oventrop Optiflex fill and drain ball valves regulating the filling and draining of heating systems. Matching thermostatic valves, butterfly valves and tailpipe sets are also used.
