In operation in Hong Kong: Two International Finance Centre

The foundation stone for the “2 IFC” in Hong Kong was laid in 2000 and after only three years of construction, the building opened in 2003.

The office and hotel building “2 IFC” together with the smaller twin building “1 IFC”, the Four Seasons Place and the Four Seasons Hotel form the financial centre of Hong Kong. With Union Square Phase 7, this building complex is also seen as the “gateway” to Victoria Harbour in urban planning terms.

Standing majestically out of the centre, the skyscraper was the tallest building in Hong Kong until 2010, with a height of 412 metres.

The elegant skyscraper with 88 floors actually only has 86 floors. But since the numbers 14 and 24 signify bad luck, they are not assigned when numbering the floors.

The simplicity as well as the unusually designed roof of the high-rise have made the building a showpiece of Hong Kong. Like many other architectural highlights, the design of this building comes from the globally working architectural firm Rocco Design from Hong Kong.

With Oventrop double regulating and commissioning valves, hydronic balancing is even possible up to the 88th floor

In modern high-rise buildings, hydronic balancing enables efficient heating and cooling. In complex pipe systems, e.g. double regulating and commissioning valves are necessary for this.

With the installation of the Oventrop HydroControl VFC double regulating and commissioning valves, the client secured the possibility to carry out hydronic balancing of the risers among each other up to the enormous heights. The possiblity of using the valves in both in the supply and the return provided the necessary flexibility. The ease of installation and operation due to the functional elements being located on one side were also convincing arguments in favour of Oventrop.

Together with the quality seal “Made in Germany”, there were enough convincing arguments to plan and implement the hot water central heating system and the air conditioning systems with Oventrop in the “2 IFC”.
