AIDAnova – World premiere with liquid gas

With the AIDAnova, the world's largest cruise company, Carnival Corporation & plc, is ushering in a new, sustainable era of cruising, as its latest “kiss mouth” ship is powered by low-emission liquefied natural gas (LNG). Emissions of particulate matters and sulphur dioxides are thus almost completely avoided, nitrogen dioxide emissions are reduced by 80% and CO2 emissions by a further 20%.

A total of 3 tanks with a length of up to 35 m, a diameter of up to 8 m and a total capacity of approximately 3,500 m³ of LNG ensure that the floating city build by Meyer Werft Papenburg can sail the world's oceans for up to two weeks on one tank filling.

Travellers are promised a unique holiday experience with 21 cabin types from 13 to 73 m² in size, 17 restaurants, 17 bars, a 3,500 m² wellness area, an outdoor fitness studio and many other entertainment options ranging from a climbing garden to a theatre.

Innovative special valves for shipbuilding optimise cooling system and cabin climate

Also remarkable: the extremly innovative technology “behind the scenes”: the electrical energy for the entire ship is also generated from environmentally friendly liquefied natural gas via four combustion engines. Oventrop HydroControl VTR and HydroControl VFC double regulating and commissioning valve are used for cooling control of the fresh cooling water side. They ensure hydronic balancing of the pipes among each other.

Oventrop bronze strainers are also used in many different areas. The hydronic balancing of the air-conditioning system main pipes to the individual cabins is also carried out by static double regulating and commissioning valves from Oventrop. This guarantees passengers and crew members a perfect cabin climate at all times - no matter where or on which of the 18 decks they happen to be.
