Denpasar Airport, the third largest airport in Indonesia is located in the south of the island of Bali, approximately 13 km away from Denpasar. It was expanded by a further terminal which became necessary due to the steadily increasing passenger volume. Almost all tourists visiting Bali use the airport Ngurah Rai, as it is called officially. It is named after the Balinese independence fighter Gusti Ngurah Rai who died in the fight against the Dutch in 1946.

Hub expansion

For many years, the popular vacation and travel destination Bali has continuously been attracting more visitors and this is why the Indonesian government tackled the expansion. The new international check-in terminal 3 was constructed in 2013/2014. The former international terminal is now used as check-in terminal for national flights. The objective was to increase the airport’s capacity to up to 25 million passengers. The complete site reserved for international flights covers an area of about 28,600 m2.

Terminal 3 was designed as an L-shaped low-rise building with two levels, the roof of the main building is broken up with small tent roofs. The design is based on the local Balinese architectural style, for example through the use of reddish and grey sandstone. Corresponding motives can also be found in the interior decoration.

Oventrop technolgy installed

In this project, which is international in every respect, Oventrop was able to make a significant contribution to the building services engineering: we supplied various regulating and shutoff valves from the HydroControl series.These belong to the product group used for hydronic balancing in heating and cooling systems.
What all the designs have in common is their ease of installation and operation, because the functional elements are arranged on one side. Each valve fulfils several functions at once, above all presetting, shutting off as well as filling and draining. In addition, the presettings for hydronic balancing and the control measurements are carried out. The following advantages are briefly presented here:

Double regulating and commissioning valve HydroControl MFC

These valves are installed in the risers of hot water central heating and cooling systems. They enable hydronic balancing of the risers among each other and be used in both the supply and the return. Among the advantages is the low pressure loss due to the Y-pattern design. Since the kv value of the measuring orifice is constant for all presetting values, simple and fast adjustment is possible. The Hydrocontrol MFC valve is available in sizes DN 65, 80, 100, 125 and 150.

The Hydrocontrol ATR shutoff valves

The Oventrop Hydrocontrol ATR PN 16/25 shutoff valves are installed in the risers of hot water central heating and cooling systems. They can be used to shut off the risers. They have two connections closed with blind plugs into which fill and drain ball valves can be screwed. They can be used in both the supply and the return. In the ATR version, the valve has internal threads on both sides and in the APR version it has press connections for quick assembly with press connections. The ATR shutoff valve can be supplied in eight sizes between DN 10 and DN 65, the APR valve in seven sizes between DN 15 and DN 50.
