Oventrop has been heavily involved with
Arup, Interserve and NG Bailey to design, using OVSOL and TSOL software; supply
and install seven complete solar thermal domestic hot water preheating systems
for the new Jaguar Land Rover i54 facility, a £500 million Engine Manufacturing
Centre in Wolverhampton England.
In total, the manufacturing halls house
over 120m2 of OKF CK22 flat panel on roof solar thermal collectors,
complete with HSK – SLS Hygienic Pre-Heat Storage Vessels; DN32 Pumpsets;
Regtronic Solar Controls; Hydrocontrol STR balancing valves; Tyfocor solar
fluid; Sontex Supercal 449 Heat Meters; Mapress Pipe System and Specialist Ejot
roof fixings
Oventrop developed the specification with
Arup offices around the UK including, London, Birmingham and Nottingham. Once specified,
we worked closely with the M&E contractors Interserve and NG Bailey; and
main contractors Interserve and Vinci, to deliver the landmark project for
Jaguar Land Rover. As part of the
sub-contract, we installed and commissioned all of the equipment above, up to
and including the preheat cylinders.
The car company says the official opening
of the award-winning, state-of-the-art factory marks "a seminal
moment" in its history, as it embarks on manufacturing engines in-house
for the first time in a generation.
The factory will be home to the 'Ingenium'
engine family, which will power a new generation of JLR products designed,
engineered and manufactured in the UK, starting with the two-litre diesel
engine in the Jaguar XE.
When operating at full capacity, it will
employ 1,400 people with a further 5,500 jobs created in the supply chain where
production of these engines will help provide a critical mass for inward
investment.
The facility is the latest demonstration of
Jaguar Land Rover’s commitment to supporting the UK's burgeoning manufacturing
industry.
Jaguar Land Rover is the only automotive
manufacturer granted all three Royal as 'Manufacturers of Motor Vehicles, By
Appointment' from; HM The Queen, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and HRH The Prince
of Wales.
